Kristen Anne Lane-Brunson\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMattoon - Kristen Anne Lane-Brunson left this life on June 4, 2011 at home in Mattoon. A funeral mass in her honor will be held on Tuesday June 7, 2011at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Dennis Kollross and Father James O'Shea officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday June 6, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will held in Dodge Grove Cemetery. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Kristen was born on November 4, 1978 in Champaign. She was survived by her loving husband Cole Brunson of Mattoon. She was cherished by her parents: Janice Hinton Kuhl (Tom) of Springfield and Gary Lane (Linda) of Paris, and Cole's parents: Pat and Mike Brunson of Mattoon, maternal grandparents: Marilyn and the late Bob Hinton of Tuscola, paternal grandparents: Ruth and the late Aubrey Lane of Neoga, brother: Rob Lane of Las Vegas, step-siblings: Christina Wools (Matt) of Springfield, Dr. John Kuhl (Angie) of Simpsonville, SC, Stephanie Lamoureux (Gerard) of St. Peters, MO, Brian Robertson (Diana) of Nevins, IL, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, step-nephews, step-nieces, in-laws, and a tremendous group of friends. Two infant children preceded her in death: Jocelyn and Myles. Kristen graduated from the Cosmetology Program at Lake Land College in Mattoon. Her hair styling talent pleased many customers at salons in Mattoon, Charleston, Urbana, Algonquin, Schaumburg, and Springfield, where she had been employed. For the past 5 years, she has been employed by Appearances Salon and Retreat in Springfield. She also worked part-time at Headquarters Salon in Mattoon. She will be greatly missed by her two puggles, Wrigley and Fiona, and her cat, Eleanor.\r\n\r\nIn recent years, Kristen met and fell in love with Cole Brunson of Mattoon. The entire Brunson family adored her and welcomed her with open arms. During her precious time with Cole, they forged a loving union that will carry on in spite of her early passing. Her fondest wish was to have her father walk her down the aisle to marry Cole, which took place on May 1, 2011.\r\n\r\nKristen waged an impressive battle against the rages of cancer for over 23 months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kristen Lane Fund at the Mattoon Cross County branch of US Bank. Memorials received will be distributed among Kristen's favorite charities; Coles County Relay for Life and Memorial Medical Center Palliative Care Program in Springfield, IL.\r\n
