Barbara Jean Robison, age 91 of Mattoon, IL, peacefully passed away surrounded by her daughters Saturday morning, August 12, 2023, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL. A funeral service in her honor will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Reverend John Calio will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow in Casey Cumberland Cemetery in Casey, IL. The visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Barbara was born on March 22, 1932, in Casey, IL to the late Alonzo L. and Lucy M. (Hart) Hills. She married Kenneth L. Robison on June 18, 1955, in Casey, IL; he preceded her in death on October 6, 2012. She is survived by her three daughters, Janet L. Vinson and husband Dave in Bloomington, IL, Sandra K. Spaulding and partner Dave Wilson of Neoga, IL, Nancy A. Homann and husband Mark of Freeburg, IL; six grandchildren: Mandy Beck and partner John Brereton of St. Petersburg, FL, Jake Homann and wife Alyssa of St. Charles, MO, Jenny Homann of O'Fallon, IL, Mariah Bruning and husband Ed of Downs, IL, Hannah Perrone and husband Steve of Peoria, IL, Nathan Vinson and wife Marissa of Bloomington, IL; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by three brothers Farrell, Darrell, Karrell Hills; one sister, Manilla Sandy; and one grandson, Shawn Beck. Barbara was a devout and active member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Mattoon, Il and served in the Women’s Mission Organization. Barbara’s life was centered around her family. She kept an immaculate house, was an outstanding cook, and treated every visitor with a warm welcome. Barbara loved cooking and was always searching for new recipes. Her famous strawberry jam was a family favorite. Her hobbies included canning, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and playing Sudoku. Above all, Barbara was a devoted mother and loving grandmother and the time spent with family was her favorite pastime. Playing games with her grandchildren over the years helped form a special bond between them. Always present, Barbara never missed a sporting or school event for her grandchildren. She leaves a lasting impact on many and will be missed by all.
