Zella Ann Schoonover

Mattoon, IL – Zella Ann Schoonover, age 83, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 10:20 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Mattoon Healthcare, Mattoon, IL. Service will be at 3pm Saturday April 23, 2016 at First Southern Baptist Church with Dr John Calio officiating, reception following at Peterson Park Pavilion. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, is assisting the family with arrangements. Born April 26, 1932, in Louisville, IL, Zella was the daughter of Nathaniel and Jettie (Trotter) Huffman. She married Everett Schoonover January 6, 1951, he survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Pam Loy and husband Mark of Mattoon, IL; one son, Sam Schoonover and wife Karen; Three Grandchildren, Andrea Bean and Husband Jeff of Mattoon, Christopher Schoonover and wife Ashleigh of Thomasboro IL, and Hayze Schoonover of Thomasboro IL; Six great-grandchildren, Jadyn Bean and Mason Bean of Mattoon, IL., Paige Schoonover, Elizabeth Schoonover, Ryker Schoonover and Phynix Schoonover all of Thomasboro, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents. Zella was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL, and a former member of Pennsylvania Baptist church in Urbana. She taught Sunday school at Champaign County nursing home for many years. Zella was a self-employed bookkeeper working alongside her husband for many years.
