Mattoon, IL-William A. Sanders, age 77, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 2:24 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL. \r\n\r\nThe funeral service in his honor will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938. Pastor Steve Hayes will officiate. Interment will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. \r\n \r\nBorn January 23, 1937, in Mattoon, IL, William was the son of Raymond E. and Alta (Bedwell) Sanders. He is survived by five children, Jan Benge of Charleston, IL; Felicia Fields of Carlyle, IL, Craig Sanders of Mattoon, IL, Troy Sanders of Naples, FL, and Tara Sanders of Charleston, IL; one brother, JR Sanders of Mattoon, IL; eighteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Sanders; and a sister, Nancy Mattox. \r\n\r\nMr. Sanders retired from Brown Shoe Factory and then later from Harris Metals and Recycling.
