Voland Gillespie, World War II United States Army Veteran, age 96, of Mattoon, died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, in Mason Point, Sullivan, IL.\r\n\r\nHe was born January 4, 1916 in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Earl and Susie (Gentry) Gillespie. He married Gladys Dobbs in 1937 at the First United Methodist Church in Mattoon. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by two sons, William Gillespie of Kansas City, Mo., and James Gillespie of Mattoon, IL.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys.\r\n\r\nMr. Gillespie worked for the Kuehne Manufacturing Company of Mattoon for 21 years, and was supervisor of the Methods and Standards Department. He worked for the Fedders Corporation at Effingham for 19 years, the last 14 years as the Production Control Manager. He was a member of the Mattoon First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge #260 of Mattoon, R.A.M. #85, Sword of Bunker Hill, and the Lawrence Riddle Post #88 American Legion. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and served in Germany. \r\n
