    Verna Mae Leming - CORRECTION

    September 24, 2021 - May 13, 2009

    Mattoon, IL-Verna Mae Leming, age 87, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 1:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.\r\nThe funeral service in her honor will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. John Connett officiating. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. in Percy Village Cemetery, Percy, Illinois. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m., at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home. \r\nMrs. Leming was born September 24, 1921, in Goreville, Illinois, the daughter of John William and Nora Idella (Dunn) Billingsley. She married James Lester Leming on May 24, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He survives. Other survivors include their children, David L. Leming, and wife Carla of Mattoon, Illinois; Nancee L. Gerould of Mattoon, Illinois; and James Phillip Leming and wife Kim of Edmond, Oklahoma; a daughter in law, Paula (Swickard) Leming of Arkedelphia, Arkansas; a brother, William Glynn Billingsley of Goreville, Illinois; and grandchildren, Sarah Kathryn Leming of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Luke Gerould and fianc' Heather Hayes of Mattoon, Illinois; Isaac Gerould of Mattoon, Illinois; Amy Leming of Edmund, Oklahoma; and Emily Leming of Edmund, Oklahoma; and one great grandchild, Kennidi Gerould of Mattoon, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, a son- Dr. Charles W. Leming, and a daughter - Alice Ann Leming. \r\nMrs. Leming was a homemaker and a member of the East Side Nazarene Church. She was a world traveler, having lived in Bangladesh and Belize, and visited Guatemala, Costa Rica, India, Thailand, Scotland, and Ireland, among others. She had been a member of the American Ladies Group while living in Bangladesh. In addition to traveling, Mrs. Leming enjoyed playing golf, painting, and playing cards.
