    Morris "Moe" P. Stremming

    December 19, 1936 - May 27, 2022

    Morris “Moe” P. Stremming, age 85 of Mattoon, IL passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, at 8:48 AM at Odd-Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL. A funeral service in his honor will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 2,2022 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Reverend Joy Starwalt will officiate. The committal service will immediately follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon, IL. The visitation will be held Wednesday evening, June 1, 2022, at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Moe was born on December 19, 1936, in Strasburg, IL to the late Edwin H. and Esther D. (Kull) Stremming. He married Cheryl D. Weemer on March 1,1964 and were married for forty-nine years before she passed away on May 19,2013. He is survived by two sons, Michael “Mike” T. Stremming and wife Enid Hurtado-Stremming of Louisville, KY, Mark A. Stremming and significant other Paula Smith of Mattoon, IL; three grandchildren, Scott Stremming and wife Anna of Chandler, AZ, Sara K. Stremming of Mattoon, IL, Madisyn L. Stremming of Nashville, TN; one great-grandchild, Drue D. Black of Mattoon, IL; one bonus grandchild, Molly Smith of Charleston, IL; two nephews, Darryl Stremming and wife Tera of Pana, IL, Tim Stremming and Kim of Edwardsville,IL and dear family friend, Thomas O’Dell of Mattoon, IL. He is preceded in death by his two brothers, Ralph, and Gene Stremming. Moe was longtime and dedicated employee for Blaw-Knox in Mattoon, IL for many years before his retirement in 1998. He was an active member of Mattoon VFW, American Legion, Eagle’s Club and Moose Lodge. An avid sports fan, Moe loved cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals, coaching his sons throughout their sporting careers, and reffing and umpiring for local events. During the winter months, he enjoyed his time spent in Largo, FL with his wife. Moe was a loving family man and made a lasting impact on many. He will be fondly remembered. Memorials in his honor may be made to Lincoln Land Hospice, 1004 Health Center Drive, Mattoon, IL 61938.
