Mildred G. Mears\r\nMattoon, IL-Mildred G. Mears, age 97, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 7:02 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL.\r\n \r\nThe funeral service in her honor will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Reverend Dr. John Calio will officiate. Interment will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service (10:00 a.m.-12:00p.m.) at the funeral home. \r\n\r\nBorn April 19, 1914, in rural Ramsey, IL, Mildred was the daughter of Charles B. and Madeline (Clevenger) Cearlock, both deceased. She married Maurice Raymond Mears on November 12, 1940, in St. Charles, MO. He passed away May 3, 1977. Survivors include one son, Charles R. Mears, and wife Betty of Mattoon, IL; one sister, Wilma Brown and husband Norman of Mulberry Grove; four grandchildren, Harold Mears and wife Carolyn of South Haven, MS, Kimberly Koester and husband Doug of Mattoon, IL, Joyce Brown and husband Jeff of Elizabethtown, CO, and Michelle Mears of Seattle, WA; three step-grandchildren, Gina Berry and husband Mike of Camargo, IL, Kathy Doll and husband Keith of Jackson, TN, and Karen Trame and husband Ken of Tolono, IL; seven great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, and two step sister 'in-laws, Ruby Goodwin of Mulberry Grove, IL, and Lucille Sidwell of Brownstown, IL. \r\n\r\nIn addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph L. Mears; two brothers, Keith Cearlock and Darrell Cearlock; four sisters, Opal Wright-Lawler, Dorothy Media, Helen Cearlock, and Gladys Ledbetter; and a granddaughter, Tina Marie Mears McFadden.\r\n \r\nMrs. Mears was formerly employed by Burger King, SS Kresge, Mattoon Journal Gazette, Green Thumb, and later, retired from the Mattoon Senior Center. She loved leisurely drives, taking in the changing of the seasons, and enjoyed driving her grandchildren on paper routes. Her family was her treasure and she cherished time spent with them more than anything.
