Marjorie B. Whitaker (Cobble)

Marjorie B. Whitaker(Cobble) age 96 of Neoga, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 17, 2020. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday evening, February 20, 2020 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Reverend Gary Hopkins will officiate. The visitation is from 5:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. A committal service will be at 9:00 AM, Friday, February 21, 2020 at Shiloh Cemetery. Marjorie was married for thirty-two years to Kenneth E. Cobble, who preceded her in death on November 11, 1976. She was then married for twenty-four years to A. Thomas Whitaker; he passed away on August 9,2004. She was born on July 13, 1923 in Charleston, IL, the daughter of G. Beckham Day and Florence E. (Callaway) Day. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Emily Geraldine Day Walters (Max); and one brother, Carl Eugene Day (Anna). She is survived by her three daughters, Sharos Jane Cobble Aghaei of Thomasville, NC, Janeice Dee Cobble Janes (Bob)of Trilla, IL, and Rebecca Kay Cobble Taylor (Larrie) of Oakland IL; one brother, Ralph E. Day (Ann) of Thomasville, NC; wonderful grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marjorie was a longtime employee for General Electric in Mattoon until her retirement in 1983. She was a pastor’s wife for fifty-six years, loved her Lord and her family. She was adored not only by her family, but by all who knew her.
