    John Timothy Hiltebeitel

    October 19, 1966 - September 24, 2020

    John Timothy Hiltebeitel, age 53 of Ava, IL passed away at 3:55 PM, Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. Services will be held at a later date. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 is in charge of arrangements. John was born on October 19, 1966 to Richard M. and Nancy L. (Durborow) Hiltebeitel. He is survived by his mother, Nancy L. Hiltebeitel of Hot Springs, AR; one son, Jonah T. Hiltebeitel of Mattoon, IL; two daughters, Ashly M. and Olivia S. Hiltebeitel of Charleston, IL; four brothers, Robert Hiltebeitel and wife Sandra of Murphysboro, IL, James Hiltebeitel of St. Petersburg, FL, Richard Morgan and wife Deb of Hot Springs, AR, Mike Morgan and wife Kim of Westfield, MA; two sisters, Carol Martin and Husband Jesse of Brunswick ME, Michelle Rathay and husband Dave of Montgomery, MA. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hiltebeitel. John was an avid fisherman, appreciated the simplicity of being in nature and loved the peace of being out on the water. He was a dedicated bass fisherman and won many angler awards and took every moment he had alone to go fishing. He loved all things sports and all teams from Philadelphia. He loved to read and was especially keen on Stephen King novels. John graduated from Charleston High School and played on the baseball team as pitcher, for the Charleston Trojans. He took English and Writing classes at Lakeland Community College. He worked in various companies in carpentry, masonry and laborer at Trail Mobile throughout the Midwest and New England. Friends and family will continue to remember their memories with him and the impact he had on their lives. A special thank you to his dedicated girlfriend, Michelle Schuzer, who was with him and by his side during his illness and his passing. John, we will miss you forever and wish peace for you always and know in our hearts that you are just out fishing.
