Joe Allen Fuller

Joe Allen Fuller, age 78 of Charleston, IL passed away at 6:25 AM, Friday, September 8, 2023, at Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 is in charge of services. Joe was born on October 16, 1944, to the late Joseph A. and Nelly I. (Bridges) Fuller in Mattoon, IL. He married Coye O’Dell Beech on May 30,1963 in Mattoon, IL; she survives and resides in Charleston, IL. He is survived by their four children: P. Duane Fuller and wife Debra of Charleston, IL, Penny D. Gillispie and husband Steven of Bedford, IN, Jeffrey A. Fuller and wife Patricia of Champaign, IL, and Donovan L. Fuller and wife Wendy of Big Fork, MT; twelve grandchildren: Bernetta Grace “BG” Fuller and fiancé Jake Bell of Charleston, IL, Dustin D. Fuller and wife Lacey of Charleston, IL, Amanda J. Fuller and husband Cody of Charleston, IL, Daniel K. and Nicholas O. Gillespie of Bloomington, IN, Nathan A. Fuller of Mattoon, IL, Declan E. Fuller of Edwardsville, IL, Akaiyan L. and Kinnerly S. Fuller of Big Fork, MT, Andrew M., Samantha D., and Lakota C. Fuller, all of Charleston, IL; fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Janet Blackburn of Gays, IL; one cousin, Frank Bryant of Mattoon, IL. Joe is preceded in death by his daughter, Amy J. Cobble. Joe was employed by The Worthington Inn in Charleston, IL, where he maintained the facilities for numerous years. Always reliable, Joe was depended on and solved any issue at hand. In his younger years, Joe enjoyed getting together with his band and playing country western on his guitar. His family treasured the music he brought to their lives. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, never one to pass up a good time but enjoyed the peacefulness of fishing most days. Time spent with his grandchildren brought him great happiness. He was true family man, loving husband and doting father and grandfather. Joe will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
