Ida Mae Laymon

March 12, 1932 - October 2, 2006

Ida Mae Laymon, 74, of Mattoon, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2006 at her residence.\r\n\r\nFuneral services honoring her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Carl Lamoreaux officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.\r\n\r\nIda Mae Laymon was born March 12, 1932 at Arcola, Illinois, a daughter of Charles and Minnie Lawrence Key. She married Donald E. Laymon who preceded her in death in 1997. Surviving are her children, Brian Laymon and fianc' Lori, Laurel Zachow and Phillip Laymon all of Mattoon; brothers, Frank Key of Montrose, Charles Key of New Mexico, Arthur Key of Humboldt and Richard Key of Arcola. She also leaves sisters, Norma Schreib of Arcola, Wilma Price and Charlotte Simpson both of Mattoon; grandchildren, Thomas Zachow and Amber Zachow of Mattoon and Mathew Laymon of Mississippi. A brother and one sister preceded her in death.\r\n\r\nIda retired in 1988 after thirty six years employment with General Electric. Her spare time could easily be consumed working in her flower garden or solving puzzles. She dearly treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren.
