    Forrest "Fuzzy" E. Sanders

    September 8, 2022 - September 13, 2012

    Mattoon, IL-Forrest 'Fuzzy' E. Sanders, age 90, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Mattoon, IL, at 11:30 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2012. \r\n\r\nThe funeral service in his honor will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 17, 2012 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938. Reverend Steve Sanders will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service, at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Mattoon VFW Post 4325.\r\n\r\nBorn September 8, 1922 in Mattoon, IL, Forrest was the son of Thomas and Edith (Redmon) Sanders. He married Frances Eisenfuehrer on July 13, 1946 In Bad Ischl, Austria. He is survived by Frances, his loving wife of 66 years; his children, Eric Sanders and wife Joellen of Mattoon, IL; Monica Lee and husband Bill of Casey, IL and Forrest A. Sanders and special friend Cheri Prahl of Mattoon, IL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Lee and fianc' Dasha Cobble of Casey, IL; Tim Lee and wife Jessica of Casey, IL; Kaycie Sanders of Mattoon, IL; Kelcie Sanders of Mattoon, Kenny Sanders of Champaign, IL and Lainee Sanders of Tulsa, OK. Great grandchildren, McKenleigh Hendricks of Mattoon; Wyatt Lee of Casey, IL and Grant Lee of Casey, IL. One brother Robert Sanders and wife Joan of Mattoon, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was also preceded in death by his son Martin Sanders; Four brothers, Thomas Sanders, Don Sanders, Leon Sanders and Denny Sanders and Two sisters Faye Sanders and Carol Hayes.\r\n\r\nMr. Sanders proudly served our country with the United States Army. He served during World War II and was stationed in Bad Ischl, Austria and served in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for Farrier Construction Company and then for Walker Construction Company until his retirement. He was a member of the Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' International Association. Forrest enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for his family, gardening and telling stories from World War II. He cherished time spend with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.\r\n\r\nMemorials in his honor may be made to the Mattoon Food Pantry. \r\n\r\nPlease visit www.mitchell-jerdan.com to light a virtual candle in his honor or share a memory with his family.\r\n
