    Doris A. Kull

    January 23, 1941 - February 27, 2020

    Doris A. Kull, age 79 of Mattoon, IL passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Mattoon Health Care. A memorial service in her honor will be held at noon, Monday, March 2, 2020 at the First Baptist Church, 1804 S 9th Street, Mattoon, IL 61938; Reverend Dennis Strawn will officiate. The visitation will be held the same day from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 is in charge of services. Doris was born on January 23, 1941 in Lafayette Township, the daughter of the late Leo R. and Fern E. (Lansberry) Stewart. She married the love of her life, Lyle E. Kull, on December 10, 1961 in Mattoon, IL; he preceded her in death on July 3, 2013. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy L. Van Houtin and husband Olin of Mattoon, IL, Tina M. Alexander and husband Greg of Paris, IL; three grandchildren, Kyle Alexander of Paris, IL, Aaron Alexander and wife Kayla of Jerseyville, IL, Corey Van Houtin of Mattoon, IL; three brothers, Robert Stewart and wife Audrey of Rapid City, SD, Larry Stewart and wife Judy of Rantoul, IL, and Jerry Stewart and wife Pam of Mattoon, IL; and one sister, Lettie Tays and husband Harold of Mattoon, IL. Doris is preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. She worked as a longtime seamstress for the Garment Factory in Mattoon, IL, and was a member of the First Baptist Church and Eagle’s Club. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards with her family, and going on cruises with her husband. Doris sold Avon Cosmetics for numerous years and throughout that time she formed many wonderful relationships and treasured all the friendships that were made. She enjoyed life, her family and friends. Doris was always there to brighten the lives of others. Memorials in her honor may be made to the First Baptist Church of Mattoon, IL.
