Donald Glen Munro Jr., age 55 of Mattoon, IL passed away at 1:10 AM, Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. A funeral service in his honor will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Reverend Brad Brown will officiate. A committal service will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Military Rites will be conducted by the Marine Corps Funeral Honor.The visitation will be Wednesday evening, November 6, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Don was born on August 3, 1964 the son of Donald G. Sr. and Judy A. (Hewitt) Munro in Glenview Naval Hospital in California. He married Jennifer S. Ollier on January 18, 1992 in Danville, IL. Don is survived by his wife, Jennifer Munro of Mattoon, IL; three sons, Donald G. III, Chase M., and Joey L. Munro all of Mattoon, IL; and his parents. Don honorably and dedicatedly served our country in the United States Marine Corps for twenty-eight years. He courageously fought and led our country in the Iraq War as a Gunnery Sergeant in 2004 and a First Sergeant from 2006 until 2007. He respectively worked for the City of Mattoon Police Department for over twenty years before his retirement in 2019. His hobbies included doing puzzles, fishing, hunting, camping with his very good friends Lori and Jason Wright, and watching FOX News. Don loved his country and family. He relished the moments spent with his wife Jennifer and his boys; they were the pride and joy of his life. His strong willed nature, determination, and zest for life will live on through them.
