    Dale W. Trout

    April 9, 1924 - August 26, 2015

    Dale W. Trout, age 91, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 7:36 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. The funeral service in his honor will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church of Mattoon, IL, with Reverend Matthew Froeschle officiating. Interment will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, is assisting the family with arrangements. Born April 9, 1924, in Arcola, IL, Dale was the son of Dale, Sr. and Beulah Ann (Stortzum) Trout. He married Dorothy Jacobsen on January 31, 1947, in Mattoon, IL. She passed away January 12, 2015. Survivors include: one son, David Edwin Trout and wife Sharon of Evansville, IN; two daughters, Martha Kyle Allen of Varna, IL, and Mary Beth Trout of Mattoon, IL; seven grandchildren, David “Jake” Trout, Rebekkah Paras (Chris), Hannah Trout, Kim Ethington (Todd), Stacey McMillan (Doug), Daphne Boley (Ralph), and Todd Craig; eleven great grandchildren, Ethan Paras, Brittany Humes, Amberlyn Humes, Jayden Ethington, Eleni Ethington, Seth Ethington, Caleb McMillan, Chloe McMillan, Joshua Boley, Tyler Dale Craig, and Carson Craig; and one great-great granddaughter, Avery Boyd. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Mardelle) Blagg of Arcola, IL, and Mrs. Harry (Juanita) Sidenstricker of rural Mattoon, IL. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Wilma Calhoun of Port St. Lucie, FL. Mr. Trout served our country with the United States Navy during World War II. He was the former co-owner of Central Wholesale Supply Company of Mattoon, IL, until his retirement in 1988 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mattoon, IL. Other memberships included the American Legion, former member of the Elks Club, Lions Club, and the Mattoon Golf and Country Club. Dale was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed bowling and golfing in his free time. He was a devoted husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. Memorials in his honor may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 10 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL, American Diabetes Association, 2501 Chatham Road, Suite 210, Springfield, Illinois, 62704, or the charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
