MATTOON- Berdina Randolph, of Mattoon, IL, age 89, passed away on September 14, 2017 at 3:48 A.M. at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon, IL. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 18, 2017 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Reverend Adam McReynolds officiating. Burial will follow the service at Upper Muddy Cemetery in Lerna, IL. Visitation will be held at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, Sunday evening from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Berdina was born July 30, 1928 in Lerna, IL, the daughter of Eldon and Alma (Scott) Hickenbottom. She is survived by her dear husband, Tom Randolph. They were married October 28, 1950 in St. Charles, MO. Berdina is survived by her children; two sons, Paul Randolph and wife Gail of Easley, SC, Mike Randolph and wife Tresa of Mattoon, IL; two daughters, Debra Prahl of Mattoon, IL, Janice Beals of Mattoon, IL; one son-in-law, Ed Maynard and wife Scarlet of Neoga, IL; twelve grandchildren, Mark Maynard and wife Kimi of Anderson, IN, Scott Dow and wife Michelle of Charleston, IL, Brian Dow of Mattoon, IL, Brittany Wheeler and husband Martin of Oakland, IL, Tom Beals and wife Nicole of Charleston, IL, Andy Beals and wife Jenny of Mt. Zion, IL, Tyler Beals and wife Janarra of Mt. Zion, IL, Megan Randolph of St. Louis, MO, Shad Randolph and wife Paula of Easley, SC, Autumn Ross and husband Russ of Easley, SC, Holly Smith of Easley, SC, Lindsey Medlin and husband Lyle of Pickens, SC; and twenty-two grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Karon Maynard, son-in-law Donnie Beals, and brother Marvin Hickenbottom. Berdina’s life was dedicated to her faith and family. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Trilla, IL. She had a passion for child evangelism, teaching Sunday school, Five Day Club, Good News Club, and Church Camp. Berdina cherished her Tuesday’s with the ladies of The Calendar Club, spending their time by quilting and socializing. She was famous within the church for her Maple Squares and would bring them every Easter Sunday service, causing fellow church members to hide them just to ensure they were able to enjoy her famous recipe. She was kind enough to give tutorials in the church basement for her sought after cinnamon rolls, pies, and chicken tetrazzini. Mrs. Randolph was a person of faith and lived a life serving others.
