    Benjamin "Ben" Cole Harrington

    September 25, 1992 - April 28, 2020

    Benjamin “Ben” Cole Harrington, age 27 of Mattoon, IL tragically passed away in an automobile accident at 9:52 PM, Tuesday, April 28, 2020. A funeral service in his honor will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Pastor Brad Brown will officiate. Burial will take place in Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. The visitation will be Friday evening, May 1, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Ben was born on September 25, 1992 in Effingham, IL the son of Laura C. Harrington and Marc G. Reardon. Survivors left to cherish Ben are his mother, Laura Hettinger and husband Jeff, sister Olivia of McKinney, TX; his father, Marc Reardon and wife Jonda, siblings Brooke, Kalen, Whitney and Jordan of Altamont, IL; the love of his life and fiancée, Adriana Cisneros and her daughter, Katalina of Mattoon, IL; maternal grandparents, Mary Harrington and Lee Eley of Highland, IL; Tom Harrington and wife Cordia of Nashville, TN; paternal grandparents, Tom Reardon and wife Phyllis of Altamont, IL; paternal great-grandmother, Lois Ooton of Effingham, IL; three aunts, Beth (Harrington) Westjohn and husband Stan of Tuscaloosa, AL, April (Reardon) Brewer and husband Jim of Altamont, IL, Natalie (Reardon) Denton of Altamont, IL; one uncle, Clint Reardon and wife Lisa of Altamont, IL; numerous cousins, Ford and Max Westjohn, Alissa Bales, Mackenzie and Kolby Brewer, Adria and Kylie Denton, Kelsey, Connor, Logan and Libby Reardon; one great-aunt, Betty White of Saugatuck, MI; and many lifelong friends. Ben graduated in 2011 from Mattoon High School. He attended McKendree University in Lebanon, IL on a football scholarship and was later recruited by The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, CA, where he and his teammates triumphantly won the Vanier Cup Award. After moving back to Mattoon, IL Ben was employed by Anamet Electrical Inc. He was an avid Rams football and Chicago Cubs fan. Ben loved the outdoors, he could often be found in the mud either hunting or fishing. With his friendly smile, charming personality, and kind heart, Ben was loved by everybody and Ben loved everybody. He knew the value of family and friendship, and will be forever remembered as a beloved son, adoring brother, and dear friend. Memorials in Ben’s honor may be made to Thrivent Mutual Fund, 116 North Main Street, Altamont, IL 62411 to assist with Katalina’s college fund.
