Mattoon, IL – Barbara Diane Taylor, age 82, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016, at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga IL. A casual attire visitation will be held Friday evening June 17, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938. Born February 22, 1934, in Decatur, IL, Diane was the daughter of Harold Dale and Lucille Frances (Niski) Allspach. She married W.C. Taylor in Mt. Zion, IL, on December 21, 1957. He survives. Other survivors include four sons, Alan Taylor and his wife Nancy of Atlanta, GA, Jody Taylor and his wife Marie of Macon, IL, Zack Taylor of Lake Paradise, rural Mattoon, IL, Jason Taylor and his wife Myra of Lake Paradise, rural Mattoon, IL; and 8 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Taylor graduated from Lake Land College and Eastern Illinois University. Diane was an educator and taught in Mattoon and Neoga school systems for over 25 years before retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of Zion Hill Methodist Church. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed reading, and flower gardening; however her family was her life. She cherished time spent with them. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an adoring grandmother.
