Allen “Wesley” Wilson, Jr., age 69 of Charleston, IL, passed away Friday evening, January 21, 2022, surrounded by his family at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL. A funeral service in his honor will be held at noon, Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Pastor Tim Oakley will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow in Mound Cemetery in Charleston, IL. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Wes was born on September 15,1952 in Champaign, IL to the late Allen W. Sr., and Doris D. (Crawford) Wilson. He married Linda G. Montz on August 9, 1976, in Charleston, IL. He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Linda Wilson of Charleston, IL; two daughters, Crystal L. Fulk and her longtime partner Vernon W. Fulk of Charleston, IL, Detra M. Wilson and partner Dennis Burris of Charleston, IL; one son, John W. Wilson and wife Letitia-Nicole of Lafayette, IN; four grandchildren, Brittany D. Fulk of Charleston, IL, Cheyenne M. Fulk of Mattoon, IL, Dakota W.W. Fulk of Mattoon, IL, Christian J.T. Wilson of Lafayette, IN; two brothers, Lesley Wilson and wife Cheryl of Charleston, IL, Todd Wilson and wife Beth of Oakland, IL; three sisters, Carol Kramer and husband John of Cape Girardeau , MO, Sandra Miller and husband Dave of Oakland, IL, Donna Wagner and husband Richard of Newman, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one brother, Bob Wilson. Wes was a devout member of the North Side Baptist Church in Charleston, IL. A man of great faith, Wes was greatly involved within the church, where he served as an usher, communion steward, and assistant to the treasurer. He will be missed by all parishioners. Known for his kindness and generosity, Wes never met a stranger and was a friend to many. He enjoyed his coffee buddies, keeping up with current events, country cruises with loved ones, and always there to lend a helping hand. Above all, Wes was a loving husband and caring father. His family was his pride and joy. He reminded them of all their blessings and to be forever grateful for what they had and did not have. Wes will be remembered for the great man he was.
