W. DiAnn Hill

W. DiAnn Hill, age 52, of Mattoon, passed away at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center on Monday, July 23, 2007, at 8:23 p.m.\r\n\r\nThe funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2007 at St. Johns Lutheran Church with Reverend Dale Nack officiating. Interment will be in Campground Cemetery at Lake Paradise, rural Mattoon. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday evening at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.\r\n\r\nDiAnn was born November 11, 1954, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of John F. and Eva J. (Chandler) Schneider. She married Ronnie L. Hill in Decatur, Illinois on August 14, 1976. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Ryan Hill of Mattoon, Cory Hill of Panama City, Florida, Beau Hill of Mattoon, and Heather Hill of Mattoon; a brother, John Schneider and his wife Pam of Sebring, Florida; two sisters, Chris Hamilton and her husband Dennis of Maroa, Illinois, and Terrie Ensell and her husband Kurt of Orange Park, Florida; and her in-laws, Roland and Helen Hill of Mattoon. She was preceded in death by her parents.\r\n\r\nDiAnn graduated from Lakeview High School in Decatur, Illinois in 1972. She then received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1976. She continued to further her education and received multiple teaching certificates including elementary education certification.\r\n\r\nDiAnn was a teacher at the St. Johns Lutheran School in Mattoon. She had formerly taught at Tower Hill High School and was a former substitute teacher in the Mattoon School System for many years. She was also a former employee of Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center. She was a member and officer in the Illinois Reading Council.\r\n\r\nDiAnn had been a Girl Scout Leader and a Boy Scouts of America volunteer. She was former director and teacher of the Vacation Bible School program and former Sunday school teacher. \r\n\r\nIn her free time, DiAnn enjoyed flower gardening, arts and crafts, painting, scrap booking, crocheting, and quilt making. She also loved to sew and had made wedding dresses.\r\n\r\nDiAnn cherished her family, friends, and her students. She was a loving, patient, kind, and devout Christian whose memory will warm the hearts of all those who knew her. \r\n\r\nMemorials in her honor may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church in Mattoon.
