Victor "Dude" Dulaney

Victor “Dude” Dulaney, age 91 of Mattoon, IL made his beautiful entrance into heaven at 4:55 AM on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL. He was surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service in his honor will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, August 23, 2024, at Broadway Christian Church, 1205 S. 9th Street, Mattoon, IL 61938. Reverend Ian Stamps will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service the same day at the church. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61939 is in charge of services. Victor was born on October 21, 1932, in Flora, IL to the late James Forrest and M. “Mildred” (Wilfong) Dulaney. He married Wanda Jeanne Lee on September 26, 1951, in Pocahontas, AR; she preceded him in death on October 21, 1994. He later married Mavis Elane Carter in 1995 in Granite City, Illinois; she preceded him in death on December 12, 2011. He then married Mary “Jane” Cole; she survives and resides in Mattoon, IL. He is also survived by his son, Steve Dulaney and wife Frances of Murphysboro, IL; his four stepchildren: Mark Carter and wife Debbie of Bloomington, IL, Jana Hills and husband Ron of Fond du Lac, WI, Angie Tame and husband Steve of Mechanicsburg, VA, Tracie Booker of Florida, seven grandchildren: Sarah Webb, Matt Dulaney, Mandy Bisby, Jimmy Dulaney, Marian Laughland, Kassie Dulaney and Alyson Dulaney; nineteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by three sons; one brother, one sister; and one grandchild. Victor was a founding member of the Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon, IL, his home church of more than sixty-eight years. He retired from Ameren CIPS in Paxton, IL as the Area Superintendent. He was a former member of the Mattoon Exchange Club, and the Retired Old Men Eating Out (ROMEO) Club both of Mattoon, IL. Always active and full of adventure, Victor had the joy of exploring the United States from California to the New England region in his 5th wheel travel trailer. He was an avid golfer and participated in Mattoon area golf leagues at Meadowview Golf Course and Rogala Public Links until the age of eighty-seven. Some of his many hobbies include raising and training field trial dogs, raccoon and small game hunting, stock car racing and woodworking. He experienced much pleasure in building chairs and bassinets for his grandchildren. He enjoyed meeting with his friends for coffee or dinner and watching FOX News or sports on television. He was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan. Victor’s love for Jesus Christ was evident in the way he lived his life. He was a wonderful example of love thy neighbor as he radiated love, kindness, and compassion. Although Victor suffered much loss in his life he never lost his faith and remained positive. A man who loved God, Family, and Country. He leaves a legacy of Godly leadership. Memorials in his honor may be made to Broadway Missions, 1205 S. 9th Street, Mattoon, IL 61938 for the Broadway Christian Church youth mission trips.
