Timothy Brent Bryson

Mattoon, IL-Timothy Brent 'Tim' Bryson, age 43, of Mattoon, IL, lost his courageous four year battle against multiple myeloma on August 10, 2013, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, and found his peace.\r\nThe funeral service in his honor will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013, at the Life Pointe Church, 1313 S. 9th Street, Mattoon, IL with Reverend Derold Doughty and Reverend Shine Doughty assisting the family with this final farewell to Tim. Interment will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, at the church, from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938, is assisting the family with arrangements.\r\nSaturday, May 9th, 1970 was our lucky day. Timothy Brent was born in Mattoon, IL, to Billy Joe and Mona Lee (Ohm) Bryson. Tim grew up in Janesville/Mattoon area surrounded by lots of loving family, good times, and great friends. Tim attended school in the Charleston school district. He worked a variety of jobs, however, one of his proudest accomplishments was earning his Commercial Driver's License from Lake Land Community College in Mattoon, IL. This enabled Tim to experience his favorite job, becoming a professional truck driver for Durbin Trucking of Decatur, IL.\r\nTim is survived by his mother, Mona Lee Bryson of Mattoon, IL; and his father, Billy Joe Bryson of Promise City, IA. Tim married Angela Marie Price in Strasburg, IL. From this union was born a son, Tanner Brent Bryson, now of Mattoon, IL. Tim is also survived by a sister, Tina Michelle Bryson. Tim and Tina often pretended as children to be the wonder twins as they shared the same birthday, just three years apart. Tim is also survived by his brother, Cory Charles Bryson and wife Crystal of Brandon, FL. He leaves three half siblings, Sara Beth Beeler and husband Seth of Mattoon, IL, Trapper Bryson of Des Moines, IA, and Sawyer Bryson and husband Tony of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. \r\nLovingly called 'Uncle Timmy,' he leaves a nephew, Treye Anthony Williams of Mattoon, IL; a niece, Kaiya Monae Bryson of Mattoon, IL, and his nine month old ame sake', Tucker Ohm Timothy Bryson of Brandon, FL. Also surviving are paternal grandparents, Billy and Kennedene Bryson of Pocohontas, TN. He leaves numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and one very special loving aunt, Roxanne Ohm. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Wanda Ohm; his uncle Dennis Ohm; and aunt, Dollie Sue Farris.\r\nTim has always enjoyed outdoor activities with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle until his health no longer permitted that particular pleasure. Tim sadly sold his Harley in the spring of 2013. \r\nTim enjoyed a special bond with his maternal grandfather, the late Charles Ohm. Sometimes our friends become family. Therefore, it would be remiss not to mention his special relationship with the late Bud and Jenny Schultz. Many happy times were spent with them.\r\nTim's 'last hurrah' was the many months he spent planning and participating in the annual 'Bryson Men Fishing Fishing Trip' with his brother Cory and their dad in Salt River, MO. Sadly, Tim's last hospitalization came just two days after this much anticipated adventure.\r\nTim's childhood passion was collecting toy John Deere tractors. This passion remained throughout his adult life. \r\nTim's final accomplishment was on August 3rd at 10:00 p.m., with his pastor, Shine Doughty and wife Lisa, Jeremy Henson, and his mother, Mona, there with him. Tim repented of his sins and being miraculously filled with the 'Baptism of the Holy Ghost', as evidenced by 'speaking in tongues', thus fulfilling the Biblical requirement of Acts 2:38.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Tim's honor be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.\r\nPlease visit www.mitchell-jerdan.com or www.facebook.com/mitchelljerdanfuneralhome to light a virtual candle in his honor or share a memory with his family.\r\n
