Thomas “Tom” Robert Miller, age 67 of Mattoon, IL passed away at 10:27 PM, Monday, June 17, 2024, at Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, IL. A funeral service in his honor will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Pastor Mike Wallace will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow at Bethel Cemetery in Lafayette Township, IL. The visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Tom was born on December 18, 1956, in Mattoon, IL to Robert N. and Shirley A. (Scott) Miller. He is survived by his parents of Mattoon, IL; significant other, Regina McDaniel of Mattoon, IL; five children: Clark T. Miller of Charleston, IL, Lauren R. Miller and significant other Tristan Copsy of Mattoon, IL, Hannah J. Walker and husband Clayton of Mattoon, IL, Londen R. Miller of Mattoon, IL, Millie A. C. Miller of Mattoon, IL; six grandchildren: Lyla R., Derek T., and Dominic E. Montgomery, Saylor G. Copsy, Peyton J., and Kaye C. Walker all of Mattoon, IL; one sister, Lisa M. Lang of Mattoon, IL; and one nephew, Garrett J. Lang of Mattoon, IL. In 2018, Tom retired as an assistant pressman from RR Donnelley in Mattoon, IL after more than thirty dedicated years. This was a priceless decision that allowed him more time to focus on the needs of his family and build lasting memories. As a young man he worked at Scotts Yamaha in Mattoon, IL with his grandfather. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, and walking the banks of lakes with his children looking for fishing lures, arrow heads, and items that had been left behind. He loved riding motorcycles, motocross racing, playing and coaching volleyball, vegetable gardening, and had a knack for building and fixing things. Tom’s love and dedication to his family was unquestionable. He was always present, supportive, and encouraging. He was a fun-loving father and found much humor in staging awkward and/or embarrassing situations for his children. He always loved carrying his youngest daughter, Millie, on his shoulders, and took pride in taking her to school daily and walking her inside. He cherished moments with his grandchildren and enjoyed taking them on walks and mule rides. Tom leaves a legacy of love, loyalty, and endless memories.
