Sunny Lou Henne

Sunny Lou Henne, age 86 of Mattoon, IL passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL. A funeral service in her honor will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 23, 2024, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. A committal service will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Sunny was born on January 6, 1938, to the late Walter John and Catherina Anna (Klien) Crepps. She married Alfred Henry Huene on June 23, 1956, in Mattoon, IL; he preceded her in death on December 15, 1984. She later married Leonard A. Henne on July 23, 1994, in Mattoon, IL; he preceded her in death on January 10, 2022. She is survived by two sons, Michael A. Huene and wife Kathy of Mattoon, IL, David W. Huene and significant other Jill Foster of West Peoria, IL; two granddaughters, Tess I. Huene of Mattoon, IL, and Amanda Foster of Boise, ID. She was preceded in death by one brother, Lavern Crepps, and her beloved dog, Andy. Sunny was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mattoon, IL. In 1998 she retired from General Electric in Mattoon, IL after more than forty-two years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Mattoon Moose Lodge and Eagle’s Club both of Mattoon, IL. Having a passion for traveling and camping with her late husband, Leonard, together they visited every state in the United States, France, Italy, Ireland, and England, Bermuda, Costa Rica, and Puerta Vallarta. Additionally, they spent a few months each winter in Florida in their 5th wheel camper with friends. Meeting with schoolmates from the class of 1955, puttering in her flower garden, tending to her roses, and enjoying her lawn ornaments were activities that Sunny enjoyed. Celebrating Christmas with her family was a holiday she always looked forward to. She will be lovingly remembered.
