Stephen “Steve” B. Sigler, age 77 of Mattoon, IL peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 22,2026 at Freedom Life, 2205 Lafayette Avenue, Mattoon, IL; Pastor Joe Stephens will officiate. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 is in charge of services. Steve was born on November 20, 1948, in Carmi, IL to the late Eldon E. and Esther C. (Blazier) Sigler. He married Debra E. Brock on May 9, 1969, in Champaign, IL. He is survived by the love of his life, Debbie Sigler of Mattoon, IL; three daughters, Stacy, Crissy, Erica: nine grandchildren: Courtney, Timothy, Christoper and wife Crystal, Mindy and husband Malachi, Caleb and wife Amy, Shelbie, Austin and wife Serenity, Britney, Steven; twenty-two great-grandchildren: Brooklynne, Malaya, Jaymason, Jaylynn, Cora, Luna, Jaxson, Kaleb, Kyla, Hazel, Waylon, Charlie, Jay, Haiden, Lilly, Tilynn, Madilynne, Haskel, Stylez, Wesley, Penelope, August.; and one sister, Marian Miles. Steve honorably served our country during the Vietnam War in the Marine Corps from 1968 until 1972. Over the years, Steve worked in construction. He was a Godly man who loved Jesus more than anything. He was a devout member of Freedom Life Ministries in Mattoon, IL and supported numerous ministries. Steve loved Blues music, playing in Southern Rock bands, and dancing with his wife. Time spent outside building fires, smoking and barbecuing meat being surrounded by family was Steve’s favorite pastime. He treasured his wife, Miss Debbie was his brown-eyed girl, and daughters beyond measure; he loved the women in his life immensely. However, once he became Gramps and Grampy to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his love and selflessness grew. Steve was the patriarch and rock to his loved ones always teaching valuable lessons along the way. He leaves a lasting impact on many and will be remembered fondly.
