Humboldt, IL-Anna Rosalind Hood, age 96, of Humboldt, IL, passed away at 11:50 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL. \r\nThe funeral service in her honor will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938. Reverend Stephanie Johanpeter will officiate. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service (11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) at the funeral home. Interment will be in Arthur Cemetery, Arthur, IL. \r\nMrs. Hood was born September 27, 1914, in Cooks Mills, IL, the daughter of Charles Alvin and Mary Blanche (Dawson) Stotler. She married William L. 'Bill' Hood, on October 17, 1934 in Urbana, IL. He passed away July 1, 1985. She is survived by two children-Joyce Ellis of Tuscola, IL, and Judy Landes and husband Bert of Charleston, IL; five grandchildren- Nancy Starwalt of Springfield, IL, Thomas E. Ellis, Jr. and wife Jean of Westford, MA, Gregory Landes and wife Marilou of Savoy, IL, Amy Peters and husband Jeff of Quincy, IL, and Michael Landes of Charleston, IL; nine great grandchildren - Sara Hare and husband Eric of Anniston, AL, Spencer Shipley and wife Carolyn of Rochester, IL, John William Howard and wife Amanda of Quincy, IL, Joshua Howard and Amber of Lincoln, IL, Jordan Peters of Quincy, IL, Jacob Peters of Quincy, IL, Thomas E. Ellis, III of Westford, MA, David Ellis of Westford, MA, and Elizabeth Ellis of Westford, MA; and one great great-granddaughter, Kadence Howard of Lincoln, IL. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Imogene Stotler. \r\nMrs. Hood was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and had served as Chairman of the Mission Board. She was also a member of the Coles County Home Extension, the Rebekah Lodge, and the American Baptist Women's Association. She served as a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, church organist, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Guild Volunteer, YMCA Member, and Guild Girls Leader. \r\nMemorials in her honor may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 14447 Cooks Mills Road, Humboldt, IL 61931 or the charity of the donor's choice. \r\nPlease visit www.mitchell-jerdan.com to light a virtual candle in her honor or share a memory with the family.\r\n
