MATTOON-Roger Dale Maulding Sr., age 67 of Mattoon, passed away on Friday February 21, 2014 at 1:33 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL.\r\n\r\nMemorial services honoring his life will be held on Wednesday February 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL with Pastor Brad Brown officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 also on Wednesday. Inurnment will be held in Villa Grove Cemetery.\r\n\r\nRoger was born on July 18, 1946, in Tuscola, IL the son of Earl and Clara (Patton) Maulding. He is survived by his three sons, Chuck Shain and his wife Leanne of Cooks Mills, IL, Roger D. Maulding II and his wife Stacey of Mattoon, IL and William 'Bill' Maulding and mother Patti Sullivan of Mattoon, IL. Six grandchildren, David Shain and his wife Melissa of Cooks Mills, IL, Alyssa Shain of Cooks Mills, IL, Cara Shain of Cooks Mills, IL, Jenna Maulding of Mattoon, IL, Roger D. 'Trey' Maulding III of Mattoon, IL and Layken Maulding of Mattoon, IL. Two great grandchildren, Collin Shain of Cooks Mills, IL and Ellie Shain of Cooks Mills, IL. He is also survived by his sister Ruby Bohlen of Savoy, IL. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin Patton, James Maulding and Duane Maulding, one sister, Beverly Wrench and his parents.\r\n\r\nRoger was an avid collector of many things, he enjoyed traveling to auctions and collecting trains, antiques and Illini memorabilia. He was a racing fan, which he passed along to his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and was his grandchildren's biggest fan, he never missed a sporting or school event. Roger was also the recipient of a heart transplant and was blessed with fifteen more years with his family as a result of it.
