Rachel Ann Conroy, age 41 of Mattoon, IL passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Willow Breeze Hospice House. A funeral service in her honor will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Apostolic Center Church, 205 Country Club Road, Mattoon, IL 61938. Reverend Shine Doughty will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. The visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 is in charge of services. Rachel was born on October 23, 1984, in Mattoon, IL. She was the cherished daughter of Larry Joe and Julia Faye (Edwards) McKibben. She married the love of her life, James M. Conroy on May 9, 2014, in Mattoon, IL; he survives and resides in Mattoon, IL. She was a proud mother to Sandra Faye Conroy who filled her heart with joy; her son, Liam Conroy of Oakland, IL; two brothers, Joshua David McKibben and wife Miriam Judith of Mattoon, IL, Gabriel Eli McKibben and wife Mara Lorain of Mattoon, IL; two nephews, David Elisha McKibben and Tobias Kip McKibben both of Mattoon, IL. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jackie J. and Dorothy M. McKibben, maternal grandparents, Billy E. and Carolyn J. Edwards and mother-in-law, Sandra S. Conroy. A faithful member of the Apostolic Center Church, Rachel lived a life of service to God and her community. She was a teacher in the nursery, where she loved pouring the love of Jesus into the little ones, and was actively involved in the choir and numerous other ministries. When not serving in the church, she brought her nurturing spirit to her professional work as a devoted paraprofessional at Eastern Illinois Area Special Education in Mattoon, IL. Her dedication to students and staff was a testament to her unwavering devotion to serving. Rachel was a friend to all. She was the kind of person who never met a stranger and could brighten anyone’s day. She loved taking walks, fishing, and losing herself in a good book. But more than anything, she loved being a mom. She was a true prayer warrior who stood in the gap for anyone in need, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she touched. Though her time on earth was short, her impact was immense. Now she rests in the beauty of His presence. Memorial donations in her honor may be made to the family to assist with final costs.
