Nancy Brown

Nancy Brown, age 71 of Hindsboro, IL completed her earthly journey and was joyfully welcomed into the arms of Jesus on November 28, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon, Friday, December 5, 2025, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; officiants will be Sandra Huckaba and Mary Barb Hilligoss. A committal service will immediately follow in Mound Cemetery in Charleston, IL. The visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Nancy is survived by her children, Jessica Hills and husband Gabe, Brittany Cooper and husband Bailey, and Joe Greenwood; grandsons, Zildjian Greenwood, Dawson Bradford, Joshua Batchelor JR.; four brothers, Mike, David, Jimmy, and Gary Greenwood; sister, Neva Little; and dear friend of over sixty years, Loretta Morgan. A devoted follower of Christ, Nancy was a woman whose life was rooted in Scripture and guided by prayer. She had a remarkable gift of offering comfort, counsel, or encouragement by quoting the perfect verse from the Bible. Her wisdom did not come from the world but her deep relationship with the Lord. Throughout her years, she lived with a purpose of serving others with compassion, humility, and a heart aligned with God’s Word. She found joy in camping, scrapbooking, couponing, and diamond art hobbies that reflected her creativity. Her creations were often given as heartfelt gifts to her loved ones, made with care and thoughtfulness. Nancy also enjoyed the fellowship she shared with her weekly Bible study ladies, whose prayers and friendship were a constant source of strength and joy. She was a proud member of the “’71 Girls”, a cherished group of women who regularly gathered for food, fellowship, and lifelong connections. She will be remembered as loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Nancy’s smile, kindness, bubbly personality, and faith left a lasting impression on all she knew. Though our hearts mourn her passing, the family takes comfort in knowing Nancy is now in the presence of the Savior she loved and served so faithfully.
