Milton H. Hite, Sr.\r\nMattoon, IL-Milton H. Hite, Sr., age 67, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 3:04 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. \r\nThe funeral service in his honor will begin at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Reverend Steve Massingil will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will also be held Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until the service begins. \r\nMilton, the son of the late Herman Lloyd and Vivian Josephine (Frazier) Hite, was born in Mattoon Township on December 22, 1943. He married Patricia Lee Martz on February 27, 1965, in Mattoon, IL. Survivors include his loving wife Patricia Hite of Mattoon, IL; two children, Milton Hite, Jr. and wife Liana of Mattoon, IL, and Amy Stephens and husband Kenny of Mattoon, IL; three sisters, Marilyn Anderson and husband Mike of Benton, IL, Saretta Todd and husband Bill of Benton, IL, and Josephine Pedigo and husband Gus of Rosiclare, IL; nine grandchildren, Milton (Trae) Hite, III, Dustin Hite, Jacob Hite, Patrick Hite, Mary Jo Hite, Donnelle Stephens, Braden Stephens, Brennan Stephens, and Briar Stephens. He also leaves four great grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.\r\nBefore retiring in 2003, Mr. Hite was a Brick Mason for 43 years and a member of the BAC Local #8. After his retirement, he worked as part-time grounds keeper for the Mattoon Golf and Country Club. \r\nMilton enjoyed being outside, flying remote control airplanes, or riding one of the 14 Harleys he has owned over the years. He was a member of the Tri-County RC Club and the Ronnie D Band, with which he loved to play guitar. Another of his favorite pastimes was sitting at the Liars Table at Gill's Restaurant or the Downtown Diner. \r\nMr. Hite served our country with the United States Army from 1962-1964. \r\nMemorials in his honor may be made to the Tri-County RC Club, c/o Larry Oye-Treasurer, 1321 Rudy Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. \r\nPlease visit www.mitchell-jerdan.com to light a virtual candle in his honor or share a memory with his family.\r\n
