MATTOON-Sue Coates, age 65, of Mattoon, IL passed away on Friday, December 11, 2009, at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.\r\n\r\nFuneral services honoring her life will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 320 N. 21st. St., Mattoon, IL 61938 with Reverend Dennis Kollross officiating. Internment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Ave., Mattoon, IL 61938, on Monday, December 14, 2009, from 5:00-8:00P.M. with a Biblical Prayer Service beginning at 7:30 P.M.\r\n\r\nSue was born September 13, 1944, in Mattoon, IL the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Kampman) Coates. Survivors include one brother; Bill Coates and his wife Evelyn of Jacksonville, IL; four sisters, Judy Hastert and her husband Bill of Tempe, AZ, Kathy Armstrong and her husband Earl of Mattoon, IL, Patricia Drake and her husband Allen of Mattoon, IL and Christine Swisher and her husband Gary of Arcola, IL; nine nieces and nephews, Mandy Armstrong of Mattoon, IL, Joe Swisher and his wife Jessica of Charleston, IL, Angela French and her husband Michael of Mattoon, IL, Susan Pritchett and her husband Eric of Edwardsville, IL, Jeff Drake and his wife April of Mattoon, IL, Kristen Morris and her husband Blake of O'Fallon, MO, Molly Hastert of Tempe, AZ, Emily and Thomas Coates of Jacksonville, IL. She was preceded on death by her parents.\r\n\r\nSue was a retired employee of the Illinois Consolidated Telephone Co. after thirty five years of service in Mattoon, IL and a current employee of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mattoon, IL. Sue graduated from the St. Joseph Catholic School in Mattoon, IL and was a 1962 graduate of the Mattoon High School. She was an active bowler being past President of the Bowling League and past Vice-President of the Bowling Association for many years.
