Lillian A. Miller

Lillian A. Miller, age 89, of Mattoon, IL passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 5:10 PM at her residence. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 13, 2023, at Janesville Cemetery in Janesville, IL; Pastor Dan Haifley will officiate. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, is in charge of services. Lillian was born on December 24, 1933, in Granite Falls, MN to the late Harry F. and Anna C. (Moen) Warner. She married Jesse A. Miller, SR. on May 21, 1960, in Glenview, IL; he preceded her in death July 25, 2008. She is survived two daughters, Renee C. Hahn and husband Benjamin Jr. of Boone, CO, Dawn N. McGinness and husband Mac of Mattoon, IL; one son, Jesse A. Miller Jr. and wife Peggy of Andrews, TX; six grandchildren: James L. Kennedy III and wife Amanda of Mattoon, IL, Janna R. Smithson and husband Andre of Tinley Park, IL, Benjamin B. Hahn III of Pueblo, CO, Quinton A. Miller of Houston, TX, Jessica M. Schlipf and husband Karl of Champaign, IL, Veronica A. Miller of Andrews, TX; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Warner of Minnesota; two sisters, Harriet Zmuda of Tacoma, WA, and Mary Riehle of Minnesota. She is preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. Lillian attended Maranatha Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL and longtime member of Women of the Moose in Mattoon, IL. She had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable garden. She also had a knack for crocheting and sewing, talented enough to make dresses for her daughter’s dances. Most importantly, Lillian was devoted to her family. She was involved in all aspects of her children’s lives, whether that be serving as a Troop Leader for Girls Scouts, coaching baseball teams, and making sure they had nice a homecooked meal. Lillian had an affinity for children but particularly her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. Lillian will be lovingly remembered by many.
