Larry D. Oye

Allenville, IL-Larry D. Oye, age 71, of Allenville, IL, formerly of Mattoon and Champaign, IL, passed away at 3:20 a.m., Monday, June 09, 2014, at his residence.\r\n\r\nThe funeral service in his honor will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2014, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, with Reverend David Ashby officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. \r\n\r\nBorn June 27, 1942, in Beloit, WI, Larry was the son of Alvin and Edna (Stortzum) Oye. He married Donna M. Kilman in Mattoon, IL, on October 23, 1969. She passed away in 2010. He then married Linda Nunamaker on October 27, 2012, in Mattoon, IL. She survives. Other survivors include six children, Jeff and wife Michelle of Osgood, IN, Doug and wife Sandy of Shelbyville, IN, Chris and wife Michele of Indianapolis, IN, Kurt and wife Michelle of Toledo, OH , Angie and husband Tom Rusk of Hernando, MS, and Keith and wife Amy of Champaign, IL ; two step-children, Leanne Beck of Mattoon, IL, and Jason Hudson and wife Holly of Evansville, IN, ; one half-sister, Beverly and husband Jeff Ward of Edgewood, WA; a special cousin, Kay and husband Al Walters of Mattoon, IL; twenty grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. \r\n\r\nMr. Oye served our country with the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1961. He was a member of the Family Worship Center in Mattoon, IL. Before retiring in 1998, Larry was a firefighter and had served with Mattoon and Champaign Fire Departments. He held memberships in the Tri-County RC Club, International Association of Firefighters, Experimental Aircraft Association, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was an avid fan of Cardinals Baseball and Illini Basketball. Aside from spending time with family and friends, his favorite pastimes included fishing and flying.\r\n\r\nMemorials in his honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, 2509 S.
