Larry M. Cobb

Mattoon, IL – Larry M. Cobb, age 72, of Mattoon, IL, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 23, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Private services in his honor will be held at a later date. An informal celebration of his life will be held at Pagliacci’s in Mattoon, on Saturday, March 5, 2016, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, is assisting the family. Born April 7, 1943, in Mattoon, IL, Larry was the son of Frederick and Neva (Greenwood) Cobb. He was married to Regina Colman from 1963 to 1978, and later was married to JoAnne Hatfil from 1978-1997. He is survived by three daughters: Angela White and husband Raymond of Thermopolis, WY, Valerie Rickelman and husband Mike of Mattoon, IL; and Larinda Bushur and husband Jay of Thermopolis, WY; one son: Larry Cobb, Jr. of California; and two sisters: Phyllis Branson and husband Jack of Texas, and Janice Mellema and husband Robert of Arizona. He leaves nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren plus one arriving soon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Larry was employed by Bridgestone-Firestone in Decatur, IL from 1965 to 1981. In 1981, he moved to Thermopolis, WY, where he was employed by the City of Thermopolis Wastewater Treatment plant until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thermopolis, as well as a life member of the National Rifleman’s Association. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking in the mountains, and taking pictures of family, friends, and God’s beauty. He always had a good story to tell and a great sense of humor. To all who knew him, his treasured companions, Buddi and Happy, were his world, and although he leaves them behind, they will be united together again one day. He will be greatly missed by his family, as well as several friends that he loved and enjoyed very much.
