Juanita Olive Williams

Juanita Olive Williams, age 96 of Mattoon, IL went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Lee Chapel AME Church, located at 1200 Drive DB Todd Boulevard, Nashville, TN 37208; Pastor Ronald Jasmin. will officiate. Burial at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL 61938 will take place at a later date. Mitchell- Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 is assisting with arrangements. Juanita was born on May 19, 1923 in Mattoon, IL the daughter of George Harry and Ada Mae (Gray) Estell. She married Edward Williams on November 22, 1969 in Mattoon, IL; he passed away May 22, 2018. She is survived by her loving daughter, Paula Butler Murphy of Antioch, TN; one sister, Clarice Freeman and husband Reverend Thomas F. Freeman Sr. of Houston, TX; one granddaughter, Tiare Douglas; two great grandchildren, Courtland N. Douglas II, Jordan C. Douglas all of Nashville TN; a special nephew, Jonathan “Mike” Jackson of Mattoon, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by one brother Harry Everett Estell, three sisters, Mariah Estell, Rosie Mae Jackson, Vera Louise Harding. Juanita was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church for ninety years in Mattoon, IL. During that time, she served as a Sunday school teacher, Mentor to the Youth, a member of women’s club, Deaconess, Mother of the church, and church treasurer until her passing. Juanita loved the Lord and cared for all that knew her. In her spare time, you could find her enjoying the challenge of a crossword puzzle, journaling bible verses or shopping to spoil her granddaughter and her great grandchildren. Juanita was devoted to her family and loved her church. She never met a stranger and will be fondly remembered for her kind heart and giving disposition.
