Gail Lynn Little

Gail Lynn Little, age 77, of Mattoon, IL passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at her residence. A funeral service in her honor will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Pastor Travis Spencer will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon, IL. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Lynn was born on March 25, 1947, in Mattoon, IL to the late Kenneth Ray and Mary Ellen Seaman. She married Jerry Duane Little on October 20, 1967, in Mattoon, IL; he survives and resides in Mattoon, IL. She is also survived by two children, Julie A Grove and husband Rod of Humboldt, IL, Andrew D. Little of Tuscola, IL; four grandchildren: Tate A. Little of Mattoon, IL, Tristin J. Grove of Mattoon, IL, J.D. Little of Mattoon, IL, and Colton J. Grove of Humboldt, IL. She was preceded in death by one sister, DeeDee Basham. Lynn was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL. She retired from the Coles County Court House in Charleston, IL as a secretary. Prior to that she was a secretary at Coles County Mental Health in Mattoon, IL. She held memberships at the Mattoon Eagles Club and the American Legion both in Mattoon, IL. She was active in the PTA and was a former PTA president at Hawthorn School in Mattoon, IL. She also took pride in writing stories for the Journal Gazette. Her love of driving through the country enjoying the scenery of farms, livestock, sunsets, rivers, and countryside was inspiration for Gail and fed into her passions of painting and photography. She would spend hours perfecting her landscape art paintings to depict the beauty that most captured her attention. Her passion for scenery also influenced travel destinations as she enjoyed camping with her husband, Jerry in areas known for their beauty such as Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, Yellow Stone National Park, Utah, and South Carolina. She also spent time in Kentucky visiting relatives. Throughout the years, hundreds of photos were taken to admire. Creating her own beauty, she enjoyed planting beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Lynn will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
