Forrest 'Frosty' Bateman\r\n\r\nMATTOON, IL-Forrest 'Frosty' Bateman, age 85, of Mattoon, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 1:30 A.M., at Mattoon Health Care Center in Mattoon, IL.\r\n\r\nServices honoring his life will begin Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Ave., Mattoon, IL with Reverend Mark Prevo officiating. Burial will be at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 8, 2013, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home in Mattoon, IL.\r\n\r\nFrosty was born on October 2, 1928, in Washington, IN, the son of William and Mary (Eubanks) Bateman. He married Betty Wheatley on February 25, 1950, in Lawrenceville, IL.\r\n\r\nSurviving are his loving wife, Betty Bateman of Mattoon, IL; one son, Ron Bateman and his wife Karen of Mattoon, IL; one daughter, Jeanie May and her husband Ken of Marietta, GA; one brother, Robert Bateman and his wife Judy of Washington, IN; one sister, Barbara Ann English of Loogootee, IN; four grandchildren, Sandra May and fianc' Joey of Marietta, GA, Brad May of Marietta, GA, Ron Bateman Jr. and his wife Blythe of Mattoon, IL, Amy Brigham of Lerna, IL; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Brigham, Bailey Brigham, Kennedy Bateman, Korbin Bateman, Ava May, Kinsley May and Parker May. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.\r\n\r\nFrosty was a retired District Supervisor for Star Service and Petroleum and former owner and operator of Frosty's 500 in Mattoon, IL. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mattoon, IL, and past President of the Mattoon Babe Ruth League. He was an avid Mattoon High School fan, hardly missing a game of football and basketball for many years. He also enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and the Fighting Illini. Frosty took great pride in taking care of his yard and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.\r\n\r\nFrosty was a friend to many and his family was blessed to have experienced the ever-present support of this wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
