Flora Pauline Browning

(Flora) Pauline Browning, age 88, of Mattoon, IL, died at 6:12 PM, Thursday, March 14, 2013, at her home.\r\n\r\nFuneral services celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 320 North 21st St, Mattoon, IL with Reverend Dennis Kollross officiating. Burial will be in Montrose Village Cemetery, Montrose, IL. Visitation will be held Sunday March 17, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Ave., Mattoon, IL.\r\n\r\nPauline was born in August 18, 1924, in Filson, Illinois, the daughter of William and Anna (Byrnes) Cox. She married Carl Browning on July 6, 1946 in Montrose, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2012. She is survived by two daughters: Carlissa (Steve) Puckett of Springfield, IL and Charlotta (Michael) Janes of Mattoon, IL, and one son: Steven Browning of Montrose, IL. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Heather Crawford of Springfield, IL, Adam (Breyn) Puckett of Colorado Springs, CO, Christopher Puckett of Rantoul, IL, David Browning of Montrose, IL, Rick Browning of Montrose, IL, Jeremy Janes of Charleston, IL, and Megan Janes of Mattoon, IL; nine great-grandchildren: Jordan Crawford, Kelvin Crawford, Jr., Isabella Crawford, Abigail Puckett, Preston Puckett, Griffin Puckett, Aniyah Dodd, Bryce Ulmer and Aviana Janes; one great-great-granddaughter Sophia Crawford; four brothers: Ralph Cox, Mattoon, IL, Jerry Cox, Mattoon, IL, Jack Cox, St. Louis, MO, and Jim Cox, Mattoon, IL; and 'bonus family' Barbara Procter, Lauren Geving and Rachel Geving of Teutopolis, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, and daughter-in-law Mary Browning. \r\n\r\nPauline spent her work career with General Electric and Associated Spring Corporation in Mattoon where she retired in 1982. After retirement, she spent almost 20 years providing in-home care for the elderly. \r\n\r\nPauline was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mattoon, IL. She was an active member of the Women's Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Modern Woodman of America, Eagles Auxiliary and Women of the Moose.\r\n\r\nPauline's greatest joy and pride came from her family and helping others. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Sparc (supporting individuals with developmental disabilities), 232 Bruns Lane, Springfield, IL 67202 or Lincolnland Hospice, 1004 Health Center Drive, Suite 202, Mattoon, IL 61938. \r\n
