Eric T. Giesler

Eric T. Giesler, age 61 of Mattoon, IL passed away December 11, 2025, at his residence. A funeral service in his honor will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Pastor Joe Stephens will officiate. The visitation will be held the same day from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Eric was born on June 22,1964 in Shelbyville, IL to the late Robert D. and Patricia A. (Cummings) Giesler. He married the love of his life, Kathleen “Kathy” A. Jewell on June 14, 2014, in Gays, IL. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Giesler of Mattoon, IL; four children, Gerold Jewell and wife Jodi of Arcola, IL, Andrea Morrison and husband Chris of Mattoon, IL, Lindsay Robinson and husband Josh of Sullivan, IL, Tiffany Durbin of Mattoon, IL; and twelve grandchildren: Alec Downs, Makenna and Gracie Wagoner, Carson Jewell, Maxwell Bales-Turner, Avery Jewell, Sophie and Bristol Morrison, Jaxson and Jayce Robinson, Izzie and Caiden Durbin; brother, Mike Giesler and wife Brenda of Champaign, IL; and special uncle, Ronnie Cummings of Sullivan, IL. Eric worked as a foreman at Anderson Electric for many years and was a former employee of Springfield Electric. After numerous years of dedicated hard work, Eric became a “Retired Grandfather” treasuring time with his loved ones. Family meant everything to Eric and loved them more than anything. In his younger years, he worked alongside his father in the family business, Giesler Trucking and Lawn Care. He had a passion for buying 4-wheel drive trucks and adding his personal touch by fixing them up and then trading them in for another one. He enjoyed attending auctions and adding to his Milwaukee Tools set, even if there were duplicates in his collections. As a talented woodworker, Eric built and sold numerous primitive farm tables with the guidance of his wife Kathy’s designs. Around the holidays, Eric, Kathy, and their good friends, the late Steve and Virginia Ferguson, hosted a Christmas show at their home and attended flea markets. Many memories were made during that special time. Eric’s warm and positive personality was something to be admired. He always had a glowing smile on his face and a heart of gold. Eric will be remembered as an amazing man, beloved husband, father, Papa, and friend to many.
