Dorothy Marie Honn

Dorothy M. Honn, age 88 of Mattoon, IL passed away at 4:30 AM, Monday, September 25, 2023, at Odd-Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL. A funeral service in her honor will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, October 2, 2023, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938; Reverend Ron Dickinson will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow in Humboldt Cemetery, Humboldt, IL. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Dorothy was born on February 14, 1935 in Mattoon, IL to the late Frank E. and Mary F. (Ealy) Linder. She married Kenneth F. Honn on March 6, 1953, in Mattoon, IL; he preceded her in death on February 27, 1990. Together they shared four daughters, Pam Beall of Venice, CA, Cathy Zemel of Mattoon, IL, Wendy Carter and husband Bill of Mattoon, IL, Cindy Garlock and husband Randy of Mattoon, IL. Other survivors include five grandchildren: Gwen Johnson and husband J.R. of McCordsville, IN, Autumn Sikorski and husband Ron of Mt. Juliet, TN, Chris Beall and wife Sarah of Indianapolis, IN, Shawn Love and wife Jacki of Sellersburg, IN, Brittany Beall of Venice, CA; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Glenda Jameson of Ivesdale, IL, and Delores Linder of Mattoon, IL. She is preceded in death by one brother, Gene Linder and three sisters, Alice Hawkins, Frances Davidson, and Linda Bail. Dorothy was a member of East Side Church of the Nazarene in Mattoon, Il and was employed as a dispatcher for Checker Top Cab Mattoon, IL for numerous years. With an incredible work ethic, Dorothy provided a loving home full of cherished memories for her family. Her four daughters were the light of her life and she never missed an important moment in their life. This love for her family grew even more when she was blessed with an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy leaves a legacy of strength, generosity, and happiness.
