Diana L. Schwarz

Diana Lou Schwarz\r\n\r\nMattoon, IL - Diana Lou Schwarz, age 66, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 9:46 a.m., on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Bickford House in Springfield, IL. She slowly faded away after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. \r\n\r\nFuneral services will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Mr. Jaret Alvis will officiate. Interment will follow in Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m., until the service begins, also at the funeral home. \r\n\r\nDiana was born June 18, 1946 in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of George R., Sr. and Geraldine (McCracken) Glasscock. She married Thomas O. Kuhl in 1971. She later married James R. Schwarz in 1988 in Mattoon, IL. She is survived by her daughter, Christina M. Wools and husband Matthew of Springfield, IL, and her son, John T. Kuhl, M.D. and wife Angela of Simpsonville, SC. She was the proud grandmother of Jacob and Jared Wools of Springfield, IL, and Elise Kuhl of Simpsonville, SC. She also leaves her sister, Sue Long of Fernley, NV, and her brother Geo Glasscock and wife Debbie of Gays, IL, as well as several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, and her niece, Angie.\r\n\r\nDiana graduated from Windsor High School in 1964, and later attended Eastern Illinois University. She initially worked for General Electric and Central Wholesale Supply, then provided in home daycare for a few years, but later spent most of her working years as a legal secretary at the Coles County State's Attorney Office from which she retired in May, 2008. She enjoyed the thrill of collecting a number of different items, but teddy bears were always a favorite. Diana was unsurpassed in the love that a mother can provide for her children and grandchildren.
