David "Dave" L. Cisna

David “Dave” L. Cisna, age 85 of Mattoon, IL passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. A funeral mass in his honor will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 320 N 21st Street, Mattoon, IL 61938. The committal service will take place at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL. A visitation will be held Monday evening, November 3,2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. A vigil Rosary service will be performed prior to the visitation at 4:30 PM at the funeral home. Dave was born on October 4, 1940, in Beech Grove, IN to the late Levi and Effie A. (Smith) Cisna. He married Frieda L. Fekete (Godden) on December 20,1986 in Mattoon, IL; she survives. Other survivors include two stepdaughters, Janet Lancaster and husband Jeff of Little River, SC, Amy Royse of Mattoon, IL; nine step grandchildren: Chelsea Clark and husband Bryan of Charleston, IL, Chad Aubin and wife Kaitlin of Exeter, NH, Chase Aubin and husband Eric Haaksma of Denver, CO, Jeffrey Lancaster and wife Elizabeth of Silver Spring, MA, Hope Lancaster of Little River, SC, Hannah Hovaker and husband Justin of Little River, SC, Curtis Royse and wife Michelle of Mahomet, IL, Kacie Rubin and Justin of Shobonier, IL, and Keith Royse of Mattoon, IL; fifteen step great-grandchildren; one sister, Betsy Bratz of Kissimmee, FL; beloved canine companion, Tom; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Andy and Carl Cisna; and two stepdaughters, Rozalia Fekete and Mary Aubin. Dave honorably served our country in United States Air Force. He was devout member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Mattoon, IL, held memberships at American Legion Post 88 and Eagles Club, and was an United Way Volunteer. Dave and Frieda enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Mission, TX. He enjoyed square dancing and had a passion for photography. He cherished his times with family and dogs and captured many beautiful moments within his photos. Memorials in his honor may be made to Coles County Animal Shelter, 6818 N.
