Cecil Selby\r\n\r\nMattoon-Cecil Selby, age 88, of Buffalo Grove, IL formerly of Danville, IL and Mattoon, IL passed away at the Claremont Rehabilitation Center in Buffalo Grove, IL on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 1:00 P.M.\r\n\r\nServices honoring his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Ave, Mattoon, IL 61938 with Reverend Dr. Mark Prevo officiating. Interment will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be held Monday, March 17, 2008 from 12:00-2:00 P.M.\r\n\r\nMr. Selby was born January 15, 1920 in Sullivan IL, the son of Floyd and Olga (Webb) Selby.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include his wife Pansy Selby of Buffalo Grove, IL; two children, Bill Selby and his wife Barbara of Marietta, GA and Sherry Wilson and her husband Brent of Buffalo Grove, IL; five grandchildren, Tad Selby and his wife Beverly of Atlanta,GA, Chris Selby and his wife Kim of O'Fallon, MO, Scott Selby and his wife Candice of Atlanta, GA, Ben Wilson and his wife Kate of Chicago, IL and Anne (Wilson) Block and her husband Ryan of Chicago, IL; five great-grandchildren and one brother, Kenneth Selby and his wife Carol of Decatur, IL and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.\r\n\r\nCecil married his beloved wife Pansy McKibben in a simple ceremony on December 21, 1940 in St. Louis, MO. They lived in Mattoon, IL where they raised their two children, Bill and Sherry. During that time he was a New York Central Railroad switchman, sweetshop owner, candy maker, handyman, TV antenna installer, baseball coach, avid golfer outdoorsman and the biggest fan of his children's activities. He was promoted to General Trainmaster and moved to Danville, IL, working for Conrail Railroad System. He and Pansy lived there for forty years, known by many as antique collectors and refinishers. Since 2005, Cecil and Pansy have resided in Buffalo Grove, IL near their daughter, Sherry.\r\n\r\nTo share a memory or light a candle, please visit www.mitchell-jerdan.com
