Patricia Ann Whitney

Patricia Ann Whitney, age 80 of Mattoon, IL passed away at 8:50 am, Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL. A funeral service in her honor will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Lake Land Church of Christ, 3480 US Highway 45, Mattoon, IL 61938. Brother Bill Livesay will officiate. The visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 is in charge of services. Patricia was born on May 13, 1943, in Kinmundy, IL. She married the love of her life, Ronald E. Whitney on April 29, 1962, and had recently celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary; he survives and resides in Mattoon, IL. She is also survived by her loving daughter, Lori A. Sparrow and husband Brian of Neoga, IL; one brother John Heicher and wife Connie of Ashmore, IL; one sister, Marilyn Henson and husband Jerold of Salem, IL; three grandchildren: Lindsay Strong and husband Dylan of Neoga, IL, Brayton Sparrow and wife Paige of Neoga, IL, Braylon Sparrow of Neoga, IL; two great-grandchildren, Jace and Mack Strong of Neoga, IL. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Merle and Eileen (George) Heicher and brother, Keith Schwabe. Patricia was a faithful member of Lake Land Church of Christ in Mattoon, IL. She was a material handler at RR Donnelley in Mattoon, IL where she retired after thirty years of dedicated service. Prior to that she was employed at the Mattoon Garment Factory. Family was everything to Patricia and she was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed crocheting, shopping, attending country music shows and festivals, and vacationing at Myrtle Beach, SC and Branson, MO. Patricia will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, grandmother, and friend to many. She will be dearly missed by all.
