Mary I. Hudson MATTOON, IL- Mary I. Hudson, age 88 of Mattoon, IL passed away Tuesday July 11, 2017 at 7:40 A.M. at Mattoon Health Care Center in Mattoon, IL. Services celebrating her life will held at 11:00A.M. Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Broadway Christian Church, 1205 South Ninth St., Mattoon, IL 61938 with Reverend Kevin Wolfe officiating. Interment will be in Ash Grove Cemetery south east of Windsor, IL. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Ave., Mattoon, IL 61938 and from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Friday at Broadway Christian Church. Memorials may be made to Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon, IL. Mrs. Hudson was born February 10, 1929 in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Harold M. and Bessie Z. (Price) McPherson. She Married David R. Hudson on August 19, 1950 in Neoga, IL he passed away February 15, 2006. Mary is survived by four sons; Ron Hudson and his wife Susie of Lincoln, NE, Larry Hudson of Mattoon, IL, Darryl Hudson and his wife Emily of Mattoon, IL, Les Hudson and his wife Michelle of Louisville, KY, one daughter; Carol Hudson of Mattoon, IL, eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother Carl McPherson. Mary was a Charter Member of the Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon, IL where she was a member of the Happy Timers Senior Group and Believers Sunday School Class. She was a retired employee of General Electric and a former employee of Arcade Drugs, Sears and R.R. Donnelly all of Mattoon, IL. Her greatest past times were crafting, including crocheting and quilting, attending Gospel Music concerts, gardening, tending to her flowers, traveling with her husband to all the states except six and playing the piano in nursing homes for many years. Mary loved to cook with a reputation for a superb apple salad and excellent peanut butter fudge. Mary’s main focus in life was her family, attending her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting, music and other events. Mary leaves an unfillable hole in their lives and will be sadly missed by her family and friends who knew and loved her.
