The Funeral Service and Cremation

This service is synonymous with a traditional funeral arrangement. Depending on one's wish, a viewing of the loved one is offered through the funeral home chapel or a place of worship. We offer caskets that you may rent for viewing purposes, or caskets specifically designed for the visitation, the funeral service and cremation. Contrary to traditional beliefs, personalization remains an option in order to reflect the life of the deceased. With this, friends and family are able to pay their last respects and comfort one another, much like a visitation, before the body is taken to a crematory. Once the cremation is complete, the remains are placed in an urn. A public or private service may be arranged for the final placement of the cremated remains of the loved one.

The Memorial Service and Cremation

We provide a showing of the urn and although a traditional viewing of the deceased is absent, we assist you in capturing the essence of the loved one's life through photographs, poems, flowers, and other memorabilia. A memorial service is performed at the chapel or the family's place of worship. The remains are then given to the family for the final disposition. Our funeral staff is here to be a guiding light throughout the disposition of the remains.

Direct Cremation

Sometimes a family may opt to not have a viewing or a ceremony. The remains are taken directly from the place of death to the crematory. Nonetheless, the staff at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home will perform the requested service with the utmost professionalism and dignity. The remains are then given to the family for disposition.
