Mattoon, IL – Mark A. Louthan, age 57, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 8:10 a.m., Sunday, February 14, 2010, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral service in his honor will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Lay Minister Pam Guy officiating. Interment will be in Helton Cemetery in Middlesworth, IL. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Louthan was born August 2, 1952, in Mattoon, IL, the son of William A. Louthan. He married Debbie Thacker on April 18, 1971 in Mattoon, IL. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Jenny Cole and husband Terry of Mattoon, IL, and Trisha Louthan of Mattoon, IL; four grandchildren, Mark and Tyler Cole, and Debbie and Sarah Focht, all of Mattoon, IL; two sisters-in-law, Vicki Williams and husband Merle of Custer Park, IL, and Lana Cline and husband Merl of Mattoon, IL. He also leaves his faithful canine companion, Scooter Ann. He was preceded in death by his father, William A. Louthan; grandparents, William R. and Sarah Louthan; one brother-in-law, Fred Thacker; mother and father-in-law, Fred and Isabelle Thacker; and a nephew, Scott Williams.
Mark was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and until his retirement in 2007, owned and operated Mark’s Plumbing in Mattoon, IL. Woodworking and flower gardening were some of Mark’s favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed home improvement projects. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed over the road adventures in his RV. Mark cherished his family and was a loving husband, wonderful father, and adoring grandfather. He treasured time with his family and they too, treasured time with him. He will be deeply missed.
