Gays, IL - Neva J. (Blood) Brosam, age 76, of Gays, IL, passed away at 5:28 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010, at her home.
The graveside service in her honor will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Mt. Zion General Baptist Cemetery located at 1320 North County Road and 050 East County Rd near Cooks Mill, IL, with Reverend Andrew Robinson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:30 a.m., at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938.
Mrs. Brosam was born May 30, 1933, in Spring Garden, IL, the daughter of Daniel W. and Grace C. (Sullivan) Blood. She married Jack Bevis in Benton, KY in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1978. She later married Orean Edward Brosam on July 30, 1982, in Louisville, IL. He passed away June 28, 2009. Survivors include five children, Mona Whalin of Gays, IL, Janice Garman and husband Bill of Mattoon, IL, Michelle Harris of Charleston, IL, James Brosam and wife Jacquelynne) of Clinton, IN, and Debbie Hostetter and husband Charles of Shelbyville, IL; a son-in-law, Bruce Taylor of Mattoon, IL; and a brother, David Blood of Ina, IL. She leaves 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jerry Taylor; a son, David Brosam; three brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Brosam was a homemaker and member of the Christ Ministries Church in Charleston, IL. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, and crossword puzzles.
