Maurice K. Tabbert

Mattoon, IL – Maurice K. Tabbert, age 81, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 6:15 p.m., Saturday, February 20th, 2010, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.
The funeral service in his honor will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, with Reverend Dr. John Calio officiating. Interment will be in Zion Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Mattoon VFW Post 4325. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Tabbert was born June 17, 1928, in rural Stewardson, IL, the son of Noah and Byrl (Huffmaster) Tabbert, both deceased. He married Marie Hurt on July 12, 1955, in Casey, IL. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Amy M. Bridges and husband Jeff of Mattoon, IL and David Scott Tabbert, of Mattoon, IL; two brothers, Max Tabbert and wife Nina of Windsor, IL, and Herbert Tabbert and wife Betty of Effingham, IL; four sisters, Alma Perry and husband Kenneth of Mattoon, IL, Elliner Tabbert of Mattoon, IL, Margaret Tabbert of Stewardson, IL, and Gail Rincker of Strasburg, IL; and two grandchildren, Owen and Allie Bridges of Mattoon, IL. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Annette Spence; two brothers, Oatha and Junior Tabbert; and a sister, Wanda Lee Tabbert.
Mr. Tabbert served our country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a former employee of Young Radiator, Columbia Machine, and Clearwater Coop. His favorite pastimes included gardening and lawn work. Woodworking and mechanics of automobiles were among his other interests.
